Tenishia played alongside various big names during their DJ adventures in Malta, meeting lots of experienced people in the industry, one of which was Kirsty Hawkshaw who showed big interest in the duo. Working close with Kirsty, Tenishia produced their first big hits such as ‘Outsiders’ which was chosen as ‘One for the Weekend’ by UK’s most in Demand DJ Dave Pearce on BBC Radio ,‘Reasons to Forgive’ and ‘Invisible’ all released on Armada’s top label, Armind. Soon after, requests for Tenishia from around the globe started coming in, and the duo has already travelled as far as Australia and New Zealand, headlining events and even supporting big names like Ferry Corsten!
Now 2011 unleashes another great EP coming from Tenishia going by the name of ‘The Ones we left Behind’, a cultivation of thrashing basslines, tantalizing twists, knee-trembling drops and sensationalized melodies, set on capturing a worldwide audience.
The Ones We Left Behind (Original Mix):
The extraordinary start brings an infestation of techy sounds that bounce around in such a speedy manner that you can’t help but tune yourself in harder to catch out how the hell they’ve done it – I failed, but my god does it sound good. It’s such a catchy start driven along by a rich bassline, and lots of punchy percussion, not to mention the sudden mind-boggling jolt that comes in between. As we head in to the break the heavens open and ‘The Ones We Left Behind’, manifests itself in to a epic melodic trancer, teaming with heart-felt atmosphere, and exceptionally beautiful piano pads. It has to be one of the best tracks I’ve heard come from Tenishia, so make sure you check it out. Firm Favourite!
The Ones We Left Behind (Tenishia Burnout Mix):
It’s a totally different twist on the original, that starts with a looped kickdrum. Additional elements are placed gradually before the lead starts to make an appearance, listen carefully as the melody rotates in before being quickly consumed and dissipated by the bass. A further rotation brings the lead in full swing and the bassline seems to seat itself in the back burner, driving the melody along. In the latter of the track innocence dances around emotional strings, and cushioned pads, a few piercing stabs and the atmosphere becomes shiversome. Taking things one step further Tenishia combines the guitar which constructs a warming balearic twist – The result is incredibly charming!
Joven’s Story
Joven Grech has been DJing since 1997, coming from a family with a musical background, starting off his career at a small community radio at the young age of 15. He was introduced to the old LP turntables by a DJ of a teen club, after hanging hours and hours on the DJ booth door admiring the job at the teen club he used to frequent where he got his first club residency. Seeing a great potentiality and enthusiasm, the owner of the club gave Joven his first chance in a proper club that he owned called Reeds, which at the time was one of Malta’s most popular clubs. Getting a lot of attention by his tender age of 17 years old, Joven was already playing in front of big crowds from week to week, gaining his skills and experience! His ambition for music grew bigger and bolder and it wasn’t long till Joven realized the music production was his next step. No local DJs did any production at the time, and his only way of learning was by himself, starting off with a simple playstation game called ‘Music’!
Cyprian’s Story
Cyprian started playing the piano at the age of 10, is highly educated in the art of music, passing several grades and he is able to play several musical instruments. He started his musical career playing the piano and later joining a rock band writing music, playing synths and guitars. But he found the true love for music after attending his first dance events in Malta at the age of 16, badly inspired by the sound of the golden years of trance! This led him into leaving the musical instruments, experiment his own sound and also building his first studio, starting his first experiments on the good old Rebirth. Self teaching was the only option as there was no one else to learn from in Malta at the time, later on joining Joven creating project Tenishia!
