Recent Release Recommendation: Dinka – Scarlet EP

The heavy strike of winter all across Europe didn’t have any influence on the releases of some quality productions at the end of the year. Thank God for that!

One of the most gripping tunes of the year is Dinka’s “Gateways”, released in the late days of December on the EP “Scarlet”. This digital release available first at Beatport and now also at Junodownload will get you into summer mood despite being right in the middle of the coldest season in years. Dinka has been one of the most interesting newcomers of the year managing to make himself recognized by the trance community. Now wonder, however, as this Swiss DJ has been notorious in making properly good material which lies somewhere between prog house and uplifting trance.

So does the new EP which consist basicly of 3 brand new tracks: “Scarlet”, “The Celtic Of Scotland” and “Gateways”. The first one is not that much impressive, so let’s focus on the other two.

“The Celtic Of Scotland” is a good title for the song as it indeed reminds you of “Braveheart” and takes you instantly to Scottish higlands and valleys. The track actually uses elements from the soundtrack of that classic movie which are shaped in a new way to form a very positive and uplifting summer anthem. Nowadays it’s very hard to surprise with a new sound, but Dinka managed it perfectly by making great use of bagpipes. Putting such sounds into electronic music sounds wonderfully fresh and is alone something which should compell you to check this track out.

The best tune undoubtedly is “Gateways”, this is the one you should watch out for. This massive proggy track with a banging breakdown is highly energetic right from the start. “Gateways” is heavier in sound compared to the two tracks and that is due to the galloping bassline which makes the track sound a lot faster than it actually is. There is no point in giving a more complex decription, this one is an absolute necessity for any trance lover to check out!
